Greg Ives feels fortunate to have been a member of the MHS varsity lacrosse team since his freshman year. During these years he has had the opportunity to play with some outstanding players and to make great friends. He feels honored to be a captain in the 2009 season. He welcomes the opportunity to take a leading role and hopes to be a major contributor to a winning team this year. This will be a challenging year with the loss of 12 seniors, but Greg feels confident that the team will step up and have an outstanding season.

As a member of the MHS lacrosse team Greg had the great honor of playing in the last three State Championships. In 2006 they were runner-ups, 2007 they were State Champs, and 2008 they were runner-ups once more. This year Greg’s goal is for the team to achieve another State Championship.

Under Coach Sullivan MHS lacrosse has done well for being such a young team. Greg’s older brother played on the first varsity team in 2001. He was the first student from MHS to play in college. Greg is committed to play lacrosse at UPenn and looks forward to playing lacrosse in the Ivy League.

Greg has demonstrated much hard work and determination. He is proud of being a scholar athlete, maintaining an A average throughout his high school career. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars.  Greg has multiple interests. He is currently working on his Eagle Scout award in the Boy Scouts of America. He is active in the Catholic Community of St. Charles Borromeo where he is a member of the Youth Group and a Eucharistic minister. Greg has played on the Tri-State All Star Team since middle school and has found this not only challenging but rewarding. He also holds two letters in soccer.

In the past three years Greg has won several honors. He has been named to 1st team All-Bianchi Conference, 1st team All-Skyland Conference, 1st team Courier News All-Area, Most Improved Award 2007, and started on Varsity since freshman year.  Greg wants to use all his experiences to help make this year a successful year for MHS Lacrosse.
