Varsity Head Coach Tim Sullivan

Tim Sullivan has completed eight seasons as head coach of the Montgomery High School Varsity Lacrosse Team.  He successfully developed Montgomery’s program from the start, and in 2007 led his team to Group 3 State Champions with an overall record of 19-4.  Coach Sullivan led his team to win both the Somerset County Championship and Bianchi Conference.  Tim was awarded Coach of the Year by the Trenton Times and the Princeton Packet.

For the 2006 season, the team had a record of 14-7 and ended the season as Group 2 State Tournament finalists.  In 2005, the team had a 17-4 overall record and won both the Bianchi Division and Somerset County Championship.  The team finished the season as semi-finalists in the Group 2 State Tournament.  Coach Sullivan was awarded Coach of the Year by both the Trenton Times and the Princeton Packet.

In 2004, Tim coached the team to a 17-5 overall record, winning their conference as well as participating in the state tournament.  Coach Sullivan was selected 2004 Coach of the Year by the Trenton Times, the Princeton Packet and the Courier News.

Prior to starting the Montgomery program, Tim successfully developed a lacrosse program in Hopewell.  He coached the Hopewell team for six years and led them to a conference title.  Tim was also head varsity coach in Fairlawn.

Coach Sullivan has over ten years of personal experience playing lacrosse.   He played as a defenseman for Montclair State University and was selected First Team All Conference for three years, 1987-1989.  Tim also played for Montclair High School, winning two New Jersey state lacrosse championships during the 1984 and 1985 seasons.

Tim is a 1989 graduate of Montclair State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health.  He is currently a physical education teacher at the Orchard Hill Elementary School in Montgomery.

Tim and his wife Jackie have one year-old twins, Grace and Shane.

 

 

 

Assistant Varsity Coach -  Don Green

Coach Green graduated from Nazareth College with a degree in Business Administration and a Concentration in Marketing and Sports Management. While attending school Coach Green spent summers in New Jersey coaching for Tri-State Lacrosse and interning with the New Jersey Pride of Major League Lacrosse. After college Coach went on to work for the Pride as Director of Operations, while still coaching for Tri-State. In January of 2007 he joined the Tri-State staff full time. He currently assists MV Whitlow with the Tri-State HS All Star Program and is working to develop the Camps and Clinics Division.

Coach Green joins the Montgomery Staff after a year as Freshmen Lacrosse Coach at Moorestown High School where his team achieved a record of 8-2 and a GAA below four.

As a player Coach Green was a 2-year starter for Nazareth in the cage.  He was named 2nd Team All Empire 8 and was apart of the teams that played in the 2003 National Semifinals and 2004 National Finals.  In high school, Don was a 4-year Varsity starter for Hendrick Hudson (NY), where he was a 2x Team MVP, 3x All-Section Recipient and 3x All-League Recipient.

 Coach Green currently lives in Hamilton, NJ and is attending graduate school at The College of New Jersey to obtain his Masters Degree in School Counseling.

 

  JV Coach - Jon England

 

Freshman Head Coach - Byron Martin

Coach Martin is very excited to be a part of Montgomery Athletics and is in his second year as a coach for the MHS Cougars.  Last year he coached the JV team.  He was a three sport athlete and 1999 graduate of Montclair High School.  At Montclair HS, he played lacrosse for 4 years and earned All-State honors his senior year as a defenseman.   Byron went on to play lacrosse for three years at Kean University.

Prior to coming to Montgomery a year ago, Byron worked in Newark at a charter school for 4 years where he was an assistant gym teacher.  He coached the girls and boys basketball teams by himself and took the girls to the finals twice!

 Byron currently works at an ED (emotionally disturbed) school and helps out with their sports teams who play games with other schools during the school day.  He coached the 7th grade boy’s basketball team at Montgomery.

Coach Martin lives in town with his beautiful girlfriend of 3 1/2 years.
